Sand Caterpillar — Generating Ideas Through Shape and Silhouette

In this tutorial, I paint Sand Caterpillar from start to finish, focusing on methods I use to overcome creative blocks by generating ideas through shape and silhouette.

I talk through my decisions as I work, explaining how I use randomly shaped custom brushes to explore silhouettes, discover appealing forms, and gradually refine them into characters and subjects.
